About me

Dr. Kim Valenta, Strategic Director and co-founder of LFP is an evolutionary ecologist who has worked in Madagascar since 2010.

Dr. Valenta also spent ~10 years working in multiple roles at the Toronto Wildlife Centre (www.torontowildlifecentre.com), Canada’s largest wildlife hospital and rehabilitation center. She is also the founder of the Mad Dog Initiative (www.maddoginitiative.com), an NGO that has been providing mobile veterinary care for free-roaming cats and dogs in Madagascar since 2014, and responsible for training Madagascar’s first group of clinical veterinarians.

As the de facto veterinary organization in Madagascar for many years, MDI has been on the receiving end of an increasing demand for services for seized pet lemurs.
